RClick encrypt/decrypt files and change/hide extension

©

©®

Been thinking that I could use a program that I can r-click on the
file/folder and it will encrypt (or decrypt) them.
Also, once the file is encrypted, that the file extension does not show
e.g.
RClick to encrypt file: medical.doc then it is encrypted as
"medical.[ext]" where the extension is related to the program and not
"medical.doc.[ext]"

Can anyone recommend a nice app for XP they have used that will do this
but also has different levels of encryption.
Thanks

for windows integration (rt-click, etc) I like axcrypt- it doesn't do
directories so to speak and the extention you can just change when it
asks you for the name. it is AES-128 only for now, although going to
the project page shows he has started developing again- four beta's
this month!

http://axcrypt.sourceforge.net/

for directories and files you could always use the excellent 7-zip,
it's a compression utility that has excellent encryption (AES-256) as
well windows integration and of course all files would be in a zip (or
other chosen format) file and that would be the extention. Both are
OSS/FW and hosted at sourceforge, here are the links to their
homepages:

http://www.7-zip.org/

as well there is PGP and GPG although they have a bit of a learning
curve associated...

HTH!

ahh- here's one that looks interesting- although I know nothing about
it and don't vouchsafe as I do with the others mentioned above- I found
this one mentioned on SoS' site, I've always liked his finds-
