RCA lyra USB problem

XP installs the Lyra MP3 player as "unknown device" rather than detecting it
as a storage device. It shows up in the registry with an ID of
USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&73D2E9&0&2

I've deleted this, rebooted, plugged it back in, same thing. It's probably
my own fault as I installed the included software which it turns out was
only for 98 and ME, but I uninstalled it, removed everything from the
registry I could find and looked for any VxD files hanging around. I'm not
sure where to go from here.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

nevermind, the lyra was hung, i popped the batteries to reboot and all is
fine now.
