RANDR (pivot) feature with latest ATI binary drivers on Linux

Does latest ATI driver for Linux (under Xorg 6.8.2) support the RANDR
feature?

I mean: I would like to be able to rotate my desktop (from landscape to
portrait) in order to make use of the *pivot features* of my Dell
Ultrasharp 1905FP monitor...
I'm running SUSE 9.3 with a ATI RADEON 9600 (RV350 4150) but although
the resize part is working it seems that the pivot feature is not
supported.. see below:

xrandr -o left

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 157 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 2 (RRSetScreenConfig)
Serial number of failed request: 12
Current serial number in output stream: 12

Is the rotation feature not supported in the ATI driver?

thanks,

No answer...
Is it possible that in this NG no one knows the answer to my question?
Is this a FAQ or my question is unclear?

Can anyone help me a bit?
please...
