I'm having a rather... interesting problem with Windows of late. It
seems that a handful of my keys have become double-bound as far as their
functions go:
* Numpad 3 now produces a \ along with its normal function (numlock on
or off)
* The Up arrow also creates a '. Conversely, my apostrophe also moves
the cursor up.
* Caps Lock produces a semi-colon and toggles CapsLock simultaneously.
The same is true in reverse. (semi-colon key also toggles Caps)
* The Pause/Break key creates a -. I have not yet had the chance to
test whether or not the same is true in reverse, though the - key still
creates its correct symbol.
I'm sure you can see why this might be troubling. I'm currently running
a virus scan to see if something malicious has caused this, though I
don't believe removing the virus would reverse the effect. I know
Windows has a built-in key-mapping function, but I'm not sure of the
codes to use for this matter, or if that's even what I'd have to do.
Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. You don't even
know how annoying it was getting all these contractions into this
message when the apostrophe keeps trying to jump to the line above.
Safe journeys,
