RAID array creation

I'd like to set up a RAID 1 array (mirrored?) as I want to ensure I can keep
working if I get a hard drive failure (doing a dissertation!). I have XP Home
on an NTFS partitioned drive (c:/ and g:/) but can't find ANY MS KB info on
setting this array up.
I'd like to be able to just keep everything running and not have to reformat
the existing drive...is this possible?? Thanks for any help or directions to
other sites!

This is a one of the Fault Tolerant options that is not natively supported
in XP only on servers.
However, there is a way to get RAID 5 on XP (with some tweaking) and
although I haven't tried this personally, I wouldn't be surprised if that
also gives you the possibility to get RAID 1 on XP, since the same Fault
Tolerant drivers are used.

Thanks Andrew, but I'm running Athlon...don't think I want to buy a whole new
system just yet but I'll bear Intel in mind!

Try search at microsoft.com type:RAID However most info is for RAID5,
a servers board/array,but some work with RAID0 and 1 mirrored.The board
mfg gives basic knowlege of how to,or go to intels web site, type:

That looks a bit too complicated for my level of understanding George but
thanks anyway. Looks as if backup is the only viable solution...and prayers!

alternatively, you could look at eg. Promise (http://www.promise.com/).
They do ATA and S-ATA add-on boards for RAID configuration of disks.
From what I've seen in local shops, they're relatively inexpensive boards
and all becomes a matter of basically plugging the board in and attaching
the disks the correct way.

That's more like it! A simple solution to a simple problem.
Thanks again.
