Raid 0 Array Configuration Standard?

I have an Abit KR7A-Raid motherboard which uses the High Point HPT372
controller to configure the raid functionality. I currently have 2
Maxtor 80gb IDE drives attached to that board configured as a Raid 0
array. Windows XP (SP2) is installed on that array and one of the
drives is designated as the boot drive. Two weeks ago that board went
south. I had another motherboard, an Abit AT7 Max2. It has the High
Point HPT374 controller. When I booted the machine with the AT7 board,
I was able to see the raid array in the High Point Raid Configuration
Utility, however I can't get Windows XP to load. I tried to boot into
safe mode and it hangs on loading the mup.sys driver and immediately
goes to the BSOD with an error showing several HEX values including
0x0000007B which according to Microsoft's KB indicates that the
miniport driver Windows XP needs to communicate to the hard drive
controller is either incompatible or corrupt. Since the Windows XP
installation only has the raid driver for the HPT372 controller, am I
forced to find another board with the same raid controller in order to
be able access the data on this array? Thanks.

What makes you think that your old Windows installment will run on the new board?

So then, how do they install Windows on a system that came out after
Windows was released? Install new hardware that came out after
Windows was released in a current installment?
