Radio Station asx file not playing in WMP11

This works fine for me when I input the URL directly into the player. Does
playing back that way work for you?

Does the same whether I use the URL or the asx file.

WMP11 takes some time to connect, then displays the station name, indicates
its playing at 64kbs but without any sound and then eventually comes up with
this:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred.
The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the
network and that your proxy settings are correct"

WMP10 on XP connects immediately.

I cannot play an asx file for a radio station in WMP11 on Vista. I
obtained
the asx file from website: http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/wmp.asp

It plays ok in WMP10 on an XP platform.

OK, since it worked for me then it sounds like something is awry on your
system.

In WMP's Tools:Options:Network menu settings, are any protocols listed in
the Proxy Settings box on the bottom, or is it empty? I'm suspicious that
your network settings are corrupted, which can easily enough be reset ala:

Did what was suggested on the MS web page, the file was registered, but all
that happened was, I was prompted to re-install/setup WMP11. No difference
with my problem.

The proxy settings are,
HTTP: Use proxy settings of Web browser
RTSP: Do not use proxy server.

These are identical to WMP10 on my XP machine which plays the radio station
perfectly.

Are you attempting to invoke this URL/file via a browser? Which browser?
