Radeon x800 BSOD

I recently made my own computer and I bought a Sapphire Radeon x80
128 mb PCI Express card. I installed the latest (5.8) catalys
drivers and my system ran the half life 2 demo successfully. However
when I tried playing Counter Strike(and Half Life, for that matter),
got the Blue Screen of Death. (0x0000000D1) When my compute
restarted, I sent an error report, and got this message

I have Service Pack 2 and I also tried downloading earlier drivers an
reinstalling the current one. I've also used Driver Cleaner to mak
sure. I still get the same problem. Later on, this also happened t
me when I tried playing the Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo. With ever
other game, it has been fine. (FEAR SP Demo, Doom 3 Demo, Neverwinte
Nights, HL 2 demo, Unreal Tournament 99

Do you have DirectX9c? Try Start>Run>dxdiag to test your DirectX
installation.

It is likely a hardware issue. Power supply RAM or overheating CPU. Run
Memtest86. Try different RAM timings and different power supply. Be sure CPU
heat sink is properly installed and CPU temps are low.

That's annoying. I registered yesterday and STILL haven't received an
activation email.

I have a x800xl AGP, and I've had nothing but problems with 5.8. Not sure
why... I didn't bother to troubleshoot, and just rolled-back to my previous
driver. Try a different Catalyst version, like 5.6 (my fave 5.x release).
Currently, I use the version with the old control panel, along with ATI Tool
in order to set Catalyst AI to advanced. If you prefer to use the bloatware
that is the Catalyst Control Center, make sure you have the .NET platform
installed, along with all the updates (windows update).
