Radeon 9000 driver

Hello all. As an open supporter of NVidia products, I find myself at a bit
of a quandry here. I have two kids who like to play Unreal Tournament 2003
so I put it on their computer. I went down to the comp store to pick up a
440MX for them, but found myself walking out with a Radeon 9000. I guess I
just wanted to give ATI a go. Long story short, I'm pleasantly surprised at
how well the ATI card performs. The interface on the card is easier to use
than my GeForce. All-in-all I believe I will probably try a 9700pro as my
next purchase.
Anyway, when updating the drivers for the 9000 I ran into "DX9 must be
installed". Does anyone know offhand which was the last driver to be DX8.1b
compliant? I really don't want to install DX9 into the kid's box as it is
not internet connected. TIA!

The Catalyst 3.5 drivers did not require DX 9--the 3.6 drivers do.

There is a DX 9.0b redistributable (that's the complete version - big dl,
though!) available if you want to dl on another machine and burn it onto a
CD - go to

The DX 9.0a redistributable is also available from
