R9700np and my monitor shuts down

my monitor, an LG-Flatron F700B (1048x768@75Hz), shuts down every time I run
a 3D program, particularly games, even 3D screensavers, it's less than a
year old and has run fine
for ages, but since I got an "evil commando 2 powercolor Radeon 9700
(128mb)" and used the catalyst 3.6/3.7 drivers on an XP-pro OS, my monitor
occasionally shuts down and wont turn back on. now it is common and happens
as soon as I start a game and I am forced to reboot whilst in the game
(sometimes ruining my save).

I don't think it is the monitor, although it runs very bright and black has
never been black but a dark shade of grey (it is like a light bulb shining
behind a black coloured piece of paper) but it is an otherwise very good
monitor as far as I know.

sys contains:
AMD XP 2800+ Barton
Win-XPpro/DX 9.0b
AGP8x ATI R9700np 128mbDDR/Cat3.7 {Internal DAC 400MHz}(0x4E45)
[BK-AMI VER008.004.008.000] (fastwrite off)
SB Live 5.1 (audio 9000) Dvr 5.12)
NF7-S NForce 2 MoBo (R2) (latest bios[18])
512 MB PC2700 ram Kingston
2x80gb Seagate HDD ATA100
Liteon DVDx16/Liteon CDRWx40

everything runs at factory standard and has not been overclocked.

What refresh rates you running at? You have the correct monitor .inf
file installed?

found out why, my NF7-S and powercolor 9700 card are incompatible at 8xAGP,
therefore any 3d "GAME" crashes. windows 3d screensavers and directx tests
come out fine though....
