Quiet Hard drive cooling fan

Ok I need a hard drive cooling fan or hard drive cooling sytem thats
quiet.

I have two hard drives that were both running pretty hot (57 degrees
C) so i got a fan for each hard drive now they are running @ 44 and
42 degrees. The problem is that the fans i got are really loud.

i bought a pair from compusa and they are so loud its ridiculous.

Does anyone know of a brand with quiet fans? What about those liquid
cooling systems? How good are they would i be able to install one in
my Dell 8200?

Thanks

do a search on the Zalman heat pipe - a fanless solution. not the
coolest cooling solution but benchmarks show an improvment, also helps
to cut vibrations from the hard drive itself. note: havn't actually
tried this one myself yet.

I have two of them installed on Maxtor disks. They do as well as a
solution with a fan blowing directly on the disk. What I observed is that
the disks run hotter when idle, but cooler when under load compared
to the fan-based system I used before. Maybe the heat-pipes only
kick in at 35-40C. I don't really understand heatpipe details, but
they are evaporation-based. Vibration dampening is fine for single
drive and o.k., for two. Some airflow is still needed.

A _very_ good product in my opinion. Mounting needs a little
force and good screwdriver.

Its not so much that they kick in at a particular temp as the
technology depends on a temperature difference to work.
