Quicktime video

Need help! I need to use snipets from a video in
Quicktime for a power point presentation. I would like to
know if there is;
- a good free download (if so where)
- is there any software that can help me convert the
quicktime video to an avi.
- any sugestions
I currently do not have a media player on my computer.
