quicktime set as default

Recently I installed a program which added Quicktime to
my computer. Now when playing streaming video Quicktime
opens instead of Media Player. I assume default player
settigs have been changed but I can't find the place to
change this.

I use XP Professional.

Open the folder where your file is.
right click on it and select the "open with" option
then search for windows media player and select the
default option for this program.
Now your video will use winmedia again instead of
quicktime

You should also make sure Quicktime isn't set
to "Preserve File Associations"

Open Quicktime
Edit > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences
Choose "File Type Associations" from the drop down
Un-check "Notify me if other applications modify these
viewer associations"
Close the dialog
Close Quicktime
