Ok, this is very odd/frustrating, but Apple Quicktime is hijacking IE6.
Here's an example. Let's say I go to this link to watch an MP4 (MPEG-4)
file.

If I click on the streaming MPEG4 file, the browser goes to the next page,
as it should...and then opens up Quicktime to play it.
Now this makes no sense. In Quicktime in the file associations AND the MIME
extensions, the only thing associated with Quicktime are Qucktime files. No
..avi, no MPEG...nothing.
In Windows 'File Types', MP4 files are clearly associated with Windows Media
Player 10. If I open the file directly from my hard drive (after downloading
it), WMP10 will play the file.
For whatever reason, Quicktime wants...no insists on playing these files.
Even in WMP10 I have the file associated with WMP10.
This just makes no sense. I can't uninstall Quicktime because I can't watch
..qt files. When I did take Quicktime off, the files no longer played in IE
at all, not even in WMP10.
This is just bizarre. I only have this problem with IE6 since I can open the
files correctly from Windows Explorer. I want Quicktime TOTALLY
DISASSOCIATED from IE6 except for it's own ..qt files.
Help. How do I fix this?
