QuickTime in MovieMaker

Just got a new Dell with MovieMaker in Media Center 2005 and also a new
Pentax Optio camera. I made very nice movies with my old Canon A520, but now
it appears that I can't use my Pentax because it supports QuickTime and
MovieMaker doesn't. Any way I can get to use my QuickTime video files from
my Pentax in MovieMaker?? Or do I have to send the camers back and get one
that uses other file formats?

Wow. Fast reply! Thank you. I took your suggestion and downloaded the
RAVTools. That went very well, but I am not sure I am using them correctly.
That will take time, I guess. I got the files converted, per the
instructions in the article, The audio is fine, but the video is choppy and
and stops. Obviously, I haven't yet found the right setting. I hope that I
get it all figured out (however, I am severely handicapped by total lack of
knowledge and understanding of the whole computer/video thing. This is WAY
beyond my just snapping pictures comfort zone. Thanks again for the help. I
really do appreciate it. judi

At least you had some degree of success...
the full retail version of QuickTime will convert
the files and you may have better luck with it.

I too have a Canon as you previously did and
no doubt...it's much easier when you do not
have to convert the video files.

Thank you, John, for all of your help. I am working my way slowly through
all of the codecs to see which ones might work. Also, it turns out that I
have access to Flash on my computer at school which the Multi Media teacher
said works to convert .mov to .avi when doing a "save as". I am still
experimenting with what I get (looks a little pixely to me!). Anyway, I am
LIGHTYEARS ahead of where I was a couple of days ago!! Thank you so much for
your help. I do appreciate it! By the way I also just discovered Pando as a
way to send movies via email, and if you haven't tried it yet you are in for
a surprise! judi

personally, I prefer to upload to a site
like one of the following and my recipients
can download from there.
