Quicken 2005 Files

L

Lavert

I realize this request pertains to Quicken, but I went to Quicken's web site
and no help. Is there anyone that might be using Quicken 2005 that can tell
me how to find Quicken data files in Windows XPSP2 Home Edition? I can
backup directly from Quicken which shows data files in folder RECYCLER. I
go to XP and do a search and cannot find this folder. Any help/b
appreciated.

You don't want to backup your files to the Recycle Bin, which is what
you are doing! In order to see the Recycler, you must enable viewing
Hidden Files/Folders and Hidden System Files from the Folder Options
applet in Control Panel.

However, you should put the Quicken backups in a better place. Open
Quicken and go to the Backup function. There is a place for you to
browse to where you want to keep backups. Put the backups somewhere you
will find them, like in a folder you make within My Documents called
perhaps "Quicken backups". After you make your Quicken backups, burn
the "Quicken backups" folder you made (as well as the rest of your own
data) to cd-r's so you don't lose them if the hard drive fails.

Malke:

Thanks for your quick response. I found the RECYCLER folder. I did not
realize RECYCLER folder related to Recycle Bin. I have put Quicken data
backup in folder "My Documents\Quicken Backups. Thanks again for the good
advice. I checked on properties For RECYCLER and it showed 93 files and 7
folders. How do I see what these files are.

How good would those backup-files be after a harddrive-failure?
I am using USB-Flashmemory for that case.
Just a thought.

As good as the last time you backed up. If that's what you're asking.
