QuickCam mis-installation reveals missing Wizard and Device Manager listing.

I was trying unsuccessfully to install a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 when I
discovered that 1) Device Manager will not create the Imaging Devices
listing and 2) the 'Scanners and Cameras' wizard will not run.

I am using Windows XP Home SP2.

1) When attempting to install the camera, Device Manager will show that the
camera is installed under USB devices, but it will not show an Imaging
Devices category like it is supposed to (according to the included
documentation). Upon restart or insertion of the USB connector I get an
error message in a "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. It says "There
was a problem installing this hardware: Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000. An
error occurred during the installation of the device. The required section
was not found in the INF.

2) I tried installing the camera by going to the Scanners and Cameras
control panel and selecting Add Device. The pointer will become busy for 2
seconds and nothing will happen after that.

Please help me correct these problems. I'm suspicious that they may be
indicative of a bigger problem so I'm urgently seeking proof that I am
wrong.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix the Scanners and Cameras Wizard or get
the imaging devices category in Device Manager? Should I post this in
another newsgroup? Let's understand, I'm not looking for help with a
Logitech product, but I can't very well ask Logitech for help when my
Windows is faulty. I need to fix the Windows problem first.

It's been 4 days. Someone must have a clue how to fix these problems.
