Quick Launch Taskbar not working in WinXP

Some of the programs on my Quick Launch Taskbar are not working. All were
working fine ~ 2 weeks or so ago. It's also somewhat intermittent. In other
words a program that was working yesterday is not working today. I'm confused
....

So far ... cannot use restore since problem occurred before oldest restore
setting; reboot did not help (warm and cold); reinstalling software
application did not fix the problem; security settings in properties menu did
not fix the problem; "free" utilities did not correct the situation.

At this point, I have to "run as" and then enter the password for my
administrator account. While this is a workaround, it's extremely cumbersome
and frustrating. I cannot do the Windows Repair because I will lose all my
settings and/or have to reinstall all the programs.

There must be some edit to the Registry that will fix the problem. Can
anyone help me please ...?

Thanks in advance ...

So you re-posted your OP?
Don’t cross-post (add a single post to more than one discussion group at the
same time) or multi-post (add the same post to more than one discussion
group, one discussion group at a time). It is very unlikely that any post
really belongs in more than one or two discussion groups, and it is easier to
track responses to a single post. Take the time to choose the best single
discussion group for your post.

Yesterday, it was Task Bar!

Today it is QL. So which is it?

Sorry for the confusion ... I was trying to put further definition to the
situation and thought a separate post would be better. Also, did not post to
other groups since my searches indicated this forum group had more discussion
on the topic.

Okay ... it's my Quick Launch section of the toolbar. Other parts of the
toolbar, e.g. desktop, etc. work fine. I have the settings where it only
requires one click to launch a program. I've tried everything you and others
suggested but to no avail. I now have the security tab in properties but
cannot fix it that way.

Any other thoughts or places to look? I have exhausted (I think) the MS
Knowledge Base which is why I'm in the discussion group.

Thanks for sticking with me on this ...

You have somehow setup a one click feature/executable?

maybe that is what's causing the problem?
Is this something to do mouse poperties or a software program?

Have you tried recreating a new shortcut to same application?
see if it works?
