questions re youtube and uploading and synch problems..

sometimes the uploaded videos are all out of synch with sound and video.

so what is the best format to save the video in using moviemaker..as in
saving the finished project. dv/avi? the default choice whatever that is?

the ones uploaded that had problems on youtube all play fine on the computer
before uploading.

I have read some papjohn newsletters but found some of it way to technical
for me at this time.

I convert all the videos to mp4 using ImTOO PEG encoder 3 which is free to
use for files less than 5 minutes in lenght.

youtube does not recommend uploading wmv files, preferring mp4s.

thanks.

thanks for your reply. we used the papajohn saving method and it seems to
have worked.

BTW, here is the response we got from youtube.com:

"Thanks for your email. There may be a problem with the audio or video
compression you are using. We recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid, SQV3)
format at 320x240 resolution with CBR MP3 audio (VBR occasionally causes
sync problems). If you uploaded a .mov file, try converting your video to
an .avi file. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading
will help your clips look better on YouTube. You can compress your video
using a movie editor. We encourage you to edit your videos with software
such as Windows MovieMaker (which is included with every Windows
installation), or Apple iMovie. Using a program like this, you can easily
edit your videos, add soundtracks, and possibly compress the file size.

Hope this helps..."

glad to hear from them but they did not provide a translation lol. like, how
does one resize a video before sending? Or what is the difference between mp3
files that are CBR versus VBR??? heck if I know. They advise us to use
moviemaker. well we did and there were still the synch prolbems.

at least we now know that mpeg 4 is NOT necessary.

PS - we did create a playlist as suggested but I do not really understand
what it is for.

for an example of what playlists are for, see the Living Projects > Chuck

it's full of YouTube playlists showing his videos
