Questions on PP 2007

I am still struggling with some features of PP 2007 and have some simple
questions:

1. How do I change the default working directory? I changed the save
directories. (I saw one posting that implied working directory can't be
changed easily??)

2. How do I change the default format of text boxes?

3. Is there a way to put the Quick Access toolbar at the bottom of the
window? I got used to earlier PP having many shape features at bottom.

4. This one is more of a comment but why can't we close a single
presentation window and leave PP running without going to Close? If multiple
presentations are open, they can be closed quickly.

Thanks for any feedback. The Help files are usually good but this discussion
group has been invaluable to me.

I don't know the answer to this. Hopefully someone else will.
2. How do I change the default format of text boxes?

Format a textbox the way you want it, then right-click and choose "Set as
Default Textbox." If it's a placeholder you want to change the default
formatting of (where it says "click to add text"), then you do that in Slide
Master view from the View tab.

No, sorry. You can put it below the Ribbon, but not at the bottom of the
screen.

I hate this. One option is to go to Office Button | PPT Options and turn of
"show windows in taskbar." But then I can't switch easily from one
presentation to the other. So what I did was put the Close button on the QAT
and train myself to use that to close the presentations. That lets me close
the last one without closing PPT.

Glad to hear it! I feel the same way. :)

What is the difference between the default working directory and the save
directory? If you set that as per the following;

Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click PowerPoint Options.
Click Save.
Under Save presentations, type the path in the Default file location box.

PowerPoint will go to that folder when you click on the file open option,
and will go there when you click on Save

Opps! That was my fault. I had changed default directory on one computer and
thought that I had changed it on my laptop too.

Thanks

Whew, I'm really glad you popped in with this info, Michael. (I thought Bill
was asking something completely different!)

I'm glad that was the answer you were looking for. I probably could not
have answered it if it were different <g> thanks for getting back to us.

Probably a bit late now, but for anyone else reading this, I use Control W
which closes only the ppt I am working in.
