Question <----- Will a Athlon X2 4800 require a bigger Power Suppy than a 3500 Dual core ?

Current running a Zalman 400 watt PS .

3 hard drives , 2 burners , and Nvidia video card . 3 fans .

Abit AV8 board . No OC


Advise appreciated .

You are probably alright. If you were starting from scratch I'd go with a
500W supply, I have an Enermax 535W supply in my 4400+ system.
However a Zalman probably has a fair amount of margin so you can
probably get away with it. If your system shows any signs of
instability after upgrading to the 4800+ then I'd replace the supply
with a bigger one.

BTW there is no such thing as a 3500 dual core, do you mean X2 3800 or the
3500+ single core?

Thank you for the info. My error on the 3500, of course a Single
core . A bit too much red wine when I composed that header. I have a
4800 coming soon from Monarch Computers. As you mentioned if the box
is unstable I will upgrade the power supply first.
