question (PC133 vs. PC2100)

I have an ECS k7s5a MB. Which can accept either sdram or ddr.

Currently, I have installed half a gig of pc133. I was thinking to upgrade
to pc2100(fastest board will take apparently) 512MB.
Was wondering if this would even be worth doing or would I not notice much
of a diff.

processor is a xp1700+, my gfx card is a gf3 ti500 64M.

I am a pretty heavy gamer. Battlefield 1942, Vice City, CS, etc....

My current config is very stable and seems pretty well balance.
though, I was wondering if I could get any better frame rates w/ the ddr
pc2100.

thanks,

Yes, you would notice the difference, and in my opinion, it would be worth
it.
PC2100 runs at 266MHz, twice as fast as the PC133. Hence the "DDR" for
double data rate. That is the same as the front side buss of your Athlon
1700+ processor. You won't "see" twice the performance, but you will see a
definite improvement. If you change the RAM, get some good stuff, don't shop
prices to hard. Crucial, Corsair, Mushkin are the 3 brands that I would look
at.

FYI I recently got two Corsair Value Select rams and they were totally
different, so if you ever want to run a matched pair in a dual-channel
board, don't get that stuff. Otherwise, it's ok.
