I will be buying a laptop, and I'm looking at one with a x700 256MB video card. In the specifications, the specs for the video card are ATI MOBILITYTM RADEON® X700 (M26) external video memory 256MB Flexible frame buffer DDR SDRAM memory. My question is... is external video memory another way of saying shared memory?

Here is a link for reference: http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=144 (specifications are accessed through a small wrench icon)

Thanks

In this instance, no, it is not shared, it is its own. :thumb:

It means that it is true 'video memory' not just shared 'system' memory.

That is why the price looks steep. ;)

That's good video specs for a laptop.

Price seems reasonable to this UK guy as well.
