Question on DirectX

D

Don Smith

I just read an article at http://www.techspot.com/startup/1898/ saying,
"DirectX shell driver should not be running at startup. It is likely a
virus, spyware, trojan, or some other sort of malicious program. Use a
virus scanner, and/or spyware removal tool to remove it."

But occasionally I *must* use IE and wonder how I can do both?

Thanks for help in clearing up this confusion.

IE is Iexplorer.exe, not Iexplore.exe

Since the text which you quoted above mentions neither spelling, I'm not
sure why you said this, but let me point out that you have it exactly
backward. The executable for Internet Explorer is iexplore.exe.

You're correct, that is the proper spelling; I had a brain fart. I was
referring to the following "trojan", mentioned at the link provided by
the OP:

IEXPLORE.EXE [path to trojan] Dangerous. Remove.

Perhaps I read too much into the OP's statement: "But occasionally I
*must* use IE and wonder how I can do both?". Looking at the site, I
found that Iexplore.exe was listed as a trojan, and my feeble mind wandered.

Not a problem, we all do it from time to time. I just wanted to set the
record straight, lest anyone be confused.
