Question..Configuring a second XP network card.

I've searched a bunch for the answer to this one.. I think it's
pretty simple but I can't figure it out..

I have an XP Pro machine that's been connected to a small network
that access internet via router/cablemodem... It uses DHCP and
get's an IP address 192.168.0.(1-50) It all works fine. I use
this connection for internet/email/etc..

I've added a second Ethernet card to the machine to connect directly
to a multi-track recorder. It has a really high bandwidth so I don't
want it on the network. It's connected directly to the new ethernet
card via a crossover cable (no router etc.) I've assigned the card an
IP address of 192.168.1.1 and the recorder 192.168.1.15 with masks
of 255.255.255.0 but I can't get a ping response.

If I connect the recorder onto the lan then the ping works so XP
is not routing the 192.168.1.15 to the new card. I've tried a few
router entries but can't get it right..

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

this a routing issue. this One router goes to the corporation email server and another one goes to the Internet from http://www.chicagotech.net/routing.htm

The subnet mask for each Ethernet card should be 255.255.255.0. Other
values, such as 255.0.0.0 or 255.255.0.0, would cause the problem that
you're seeing.

If that doesn't help, please reply to this message in the news group
with a copy of the computer's route table. You can write the route
table to a file with this command:

route print >route.txt
