Question Concerning ICS

L

Les

I want to know if it is necessary to logon to a network for ICS to
work.

I have read 2 articles on setting up ICS and one does not mention
network logon at all.

The 2nd article says that you must logon to network for ICS to work.

"During restarting of the system, you are getting the Network Logon
screen:

For Internet Connection Sharing to work, you MUST Logon (by defining a
Username and an optional password) (when you click on Cancel or just
hit the ESC-key, you are NOT Logging on to the network and then ICS
will NOT be operational !)"

At the present time I do not logon when I start up my computers (I
have 3 of them on the network). The network itself works. I am able to
share files and the printer across the network.

However; I am not able to share the internet connection. I do not know
if this is because I have the network protoclos set up wrong (I am
going to uninstall everything and try again) or if it is required that
you logon to the network for the network to share the internet
connection.
