Question about scavenging records

I noticed that SBS 2000 is not set to scavenge records by default. Because
of this, there are some DNS records in the DNS console that are from
workstations that do not exist, or have been renamed.

Is it a good idea to enable scavenging? I do not understand why it would be
off by default. What are the disadvantages?

If you don't *completely* understand DNS scavenging, DON'T use it or you
risk losing records unexpectedly.
