question about load xp on laptop w/o cd rom alternative idea

Can you pull the hard drive fm a laptop that you can't load XP onto, and
put it in a different laptop that is working properly, load XP there, and
then
put it back in the first one and update drivers, etc., at that point?

Identical machines?
If not - then there is a possibility of this failing.

However - you could copy the CD to the hard disk drive, setup a newtork boot
if the computer without a CD will do that and/or use a USB/external CD
drive.
