Query Captions not consistently showing

Hello. I'm using Access 2000 and when in datasheet view
of query, some of the time the field captions appear, and
some of the time the actual field names appear. I can't
figure what I'm doing differently to get the different
results. Has anyone had this problem, or have ideas about
why this may be happening? Thanks!

I don't have this problem since I think using the Caption property is a
horrible idea. All data entry and view should be done in forms and reports
where you can set the label captions to whatever you want. I find field
captions very confusing as are Lookup Fields.

If you defined a Caption for the field when you built the table, then the
datasheet view will attempt to use the caption you defined as the label for the
column. Otherwise, it will use the Name of the field as the label for the
column.

You can also set a Caption property for any field in a query if you are using
the query grid. If you do that the Caption will be used as the column label.

Hi John. Originally, I set the captions in query design --
but, as you suggested, I included captions in the table
itself, and it appears to be working consistently now.
Thank you very much!!
