could anybody tell this just starting greeny, how to get myself a 'microsoft
personal web server' while working with windows XP? It's not accepting the
win'98 cdrom's .exe PWS. And it not included in my XP-version. How to handle
now?!! Help needed. What do I need to do to get me making webpages, i cant
even start one now.... :-( Nadine, Holland.

Windows XP Home doesn't support any MS web server or the FP extensions. You need to have FP2000 or
later versions which do not requires a local web server.

Or upgrade to Win XP Pro (which has IIS and supports the FP SE)
- but still do not install PWS

IMHO
also upgrade to FP 2003

That may work, however unless you can also install the FP extensions, FP will not have access to the
IIS or any web server installed under Windows XP.

Also, if this happens to hoses the user's system, MS will not provide any support so the user will
be on their own, plus any Windows SP will most likely not update IIS under Windows XP Home.

PWS doesn't work in XP at all.

If you need a web server for testing, ue Internet Information Server (IIS)
which comes with XP Pro.

It works. Since XPHE is not a production server the updates and MS
support are not issues.

Andrew,
Hate to disagree, I have FP98 in a computer with XP Home which brings up PWS
and it works?
Of course I do not know why!
