Putting my parallel port printer on my wireless network.

I'd like to get something that would take a regular parallel port
printer and make it part of my wireless network. I'll bet there is
something like that, but I don't know what to call it. What would I
call it, so I can hunt for one?

If not parallel port, how about USB port? :)

I've run out of room in this room, and I thought I would look like a
big fancy office if my printer was in the spare bedroom, that I would
rename "Printer Room". Maybe I would even make a sign and put it on
the door. I might even get a tape of the ratatat-tat of a chain
printer, and play that when guests come over whom I want to impress.

Google for a printer server, most look like a
router, and can have a number of ports.

I would caution you to check the specs very closely to see
what printers the device supports. Print servers are not
universal. Read the reviews at Newegg also.

Okay, thanks.

If a single parallel printer is all you want to connect you could use
something like this http://www.netgear.co.uk/mini_print_server_ps101.php .
I used one for years to connect my LaserJet 4P to the home network and it
works fine, is tiny, and is cheap. Otherwise, there are many other print
servers available to meet almost any need.

I can't believe I posted that. You asked about a wireless network and the
little server I mentioned is for wired Ethernet. I refuse to use wireless
for various reasons and have no idea what solution would be best in your
situation. I do know that a simple search for "wireless parallel print
server" will probably turn up at least one example from every major
networking equipment maker.
