Putting hard drive in new pc

I am buying a new PC and was wodering what I have to do to install my
existing hard drive in to my new computer. I was told the new install of XP
will have problems with the old hard drive.

If you use your old drive as the operating system disk (the one which has
Windows), then you will need to perform a repair installation. Yes, that
could easily qualify as a problem.
If you insert you old drive as an additional disk, Windows will work well.
In this case, you will need to decide what you want to do with the old
drive.

I would not install a disk which is more than a couple (or so) years old.
New ones are so cheap these days.

The old drive has xp on it but i would just use it as a secondary drive as it
has all my pictures, music, programs ect. on it. Would i have to delete the
version of XP it already has on it?

Not neccessary to delete the old XP but it will not be bootable
either, at least not without some additional work.
