Purchase of Access Upgrade

I need to purchase Access for home. Looking at the box in the store, the
requirements to use the upgrade states that the user will need ONE of the
listed applications. I have MS Works 7.0 on my laptop; which is one of the
applications listed on the upgrade box. Does that mean I do not have to have
a previous version of Access to purchase the Upgrade Access 2003? If so,
does the Upgrade version have all the functionality of the "full" version of
Access 2003? Thanks.

Correct. Your version of MS Works on the list of all qualifying products
for the upgrade version of Access 2003 on the following Web page:

Access 2003?

Yes. It does. The only downside to installing an upgrade version is that
you must keep the qualifying product in order to reinstall the upgrade again
at a later date, should the need ever arise. Usually this means that having
the original CD of the qualifying product handy when the upgrade is installed
is sufficient, but with older products the qualifying product needed to
actually be installed on the computer. I don't think you need to worry about
Access 2003 needing to have Works 7.0 installed, though.

After you install Access 2003, install MS Office 2003 SP-1 for the bug
fixes, but you may want to hold off on installing SP-2 because it won't allow
you to edit linked Excel spreadsheets, should you also have Excel installed
on your computer.

Both assertions are correct: Works 7.0 will let you buy the upgrade
version, and that version is exactly the same as the full-price
version; only the pricing differs.
