pulblc_html folder

I was updating on old web site and republished it and ended up only being
able to access the Index listing of folders on the internet. I asked my
hosting company if they could fix it and they did and then told me:

"some how you published your “default.htm†file in a folder off your root
called default and all you needed to do is make sure it was published in your
pulblc_html folder."

So, here's the question. How do I make sure my default.htm file is published
in my public_html folder? I need to make more adjustments and publish again,
but am afraid to make the same mistake.

I've asked the hosting company for clarification, but you guys are so much
faster and more concise with your information. Can anyone give me a plain
english answer?

Thanks so much. You've helped me so many times in the past and I really
appreciate all of you.

If using FP to publish and the server doesn't have the FP extensions, then you host must map your
FTP login to only allow access to the public_html folder. If the FP extensions are installed and you
published via FP http mode, then you host doesn't have the extensions configured correctly for your
account.
