Publish from remote to local doesn't work

A friend wants me to update their site, I have tried to publish from remote
to local and it starts to list the files but because there is a file on the
website named 'mainwebsite_html' I get this error: 550 mainwebsite_html not
a regular file. The publish stops with that error message and I just have a
few empty folders on the local side.

I have no idea what that file is as I did not create this website but it is
preventing the publish from remote to local. I tried copying everything but
then (as expected) none of the links work. Anyone have any idea what that
file is all about? There is a folder named websitemain_html.bk on the site
and if I open that in the remote area it is full of folders and webpages. The
website is www.stablehousestudio.ca please help. Thanks, Sherron

mainwebsite_html appears to be a folder containing a previous version of the
website.

Since FrontPage extensions do not seem to be installed on the site
(http://www.stablehousestudio.ca/_vti_inf.html returns 404 error), I suggest
you use an FTP client to download the site to a folder on your PC, then open
that folder in FrontPage.

The site was last built using Dreamweaver Dynamic Web Templates, so you will
have to convert these (and attached pages) to FrontPage DWT format if you
wish to continue using them.

Thank you Ron Symonds, so nice to have expert advice. I just purchased MS Web
Expression 3, although I am just learning the software and there is a
learning curve would it be better to open it with that, would it make the
conversion easier?

In my opinion, Expression Web a better editor than FrontPage, but it will
make no difference to the conversion - Expression Web uses the same DWT
format as FrontPage.
