Public folder in outlook 2007 should use flags

In Outlook 2003 our department uses a public folder to store tasks. These
came from emails written to that public folder from people that needed work
done. We color coded the flags to match certain individuals. This way we
weren't recreating all the issues coming in as tasks, instead just color code
the email flag to that person. Also so we can see what each person has to
do, for help and backup purposes.

In 2007 Beta, you use categories, which is fine, but you cannot specify if
the follow-up has been completed. When you right click the email message,
you cannot select follow-up options anymore. The new emphasis on categories
is nice, but are they local to the machine? It would also be nice if each
public folder can have it's own set of categories, along with the possibility
of carrying them down from the parent public folder. I know of other
departments here that would find all of this extremely useful.

The categories are local to each user's data store. It is expected that administrators will deploy a set list for their users.

It has long been possible to establish a set category list for a public folder using a custom form. See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/forms/reqcat.htm

What about the flag options, or being able to followup with a completed
checkmark like 2003?

Add the buttons to the tool bar - although you still won't be able to see
the flags, but they will be marked (which meets my needs). It annoys me too
but I haven't had any luck in convincing them we needed the quick flag field
visible in PF.
