PST Import to new computer

I am running Outlook 2000 on my old computer. How do I move (Import) my pst
files to my new computer running Outlook 2003? I have tried importing as I
have in the past. I can Import pst files to a cd but the problem is when I
try to put the pst folders on the new computer.
Both are Windows XP.

Hi,
First Copy the file to desktop, now click file->import/export.
select "import from another program or file" click next select personal
folder file (*.pst)click next click browse and locate the file click open.
Click next and click finish

No NO NO! Do NOT use the Import function for pst files - that's the fastest
way to corrupt data. NO body on this group recommends the use of the
import/export function for pst files. Please stop posting potentially
damaging procedures.

Please ignore the instructions to use the import/export function - that is
one of the quickest ways to corrupted pst files.
On the old machine - with Outlook closed - copy the pst file to the new
computer. Do NOT overwrite the existing pst file (if there is one) on the
new machine. Paste the file into a different location. You then have two
options. You can either go to File-Open-Outlook Data File in Outlook,
navigate to where you copied it to, and drag all your data into the new pst
file, or, you can just set the old file as the default delivery location.
(Control Panel-Mail).

Hi,
Just out of curiosity i wanted to know why its gonna corrupt data if the
file is imported because i have seen few articles in the knowledge base
where they have used the import / export tool to import the data.

I think you'll find that the Import/Export function is designed to
import/export data to and from non-Outlook applications.
All the mpv's on this group and the other Outlook groups do NOT
recommend the use of export/import of pst files.

What it tends to corrupt is the mail profile, not the file itself. It does,
however, leave some data out, since exporting and importing cannot handle
some of the data in the PST.
