PST files

Hi,

I had to wipe my hard drive and saved my outlook files on a CDROM in two .pst files -- one personal and the other archive. How can I access them? When I try to open either, I am asked which program to use and I tried Outlook, Word, Notes, and nothing seems to work. Any help is appreciated.

You will not be able to open pst-files stored on a CDROM. If you copy the files to your hard drive and remove the read attribute,
you will be able to open the files in Outlook.

Hi,
This is my first time in a newsgroup, I could not see if
you had any replies. I have the same problem, trying to
import from my saved CD, I have the message come up
File access is denied , you do not have the permission
required to access file. Have you had any luck sorting
it?

I believe you have to copy the files onto your hard drive, select the file
in explorer, go to file properties and untick the read only attribute.

You can now import the file into Outlook.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the PST file and choose Properties. The
Read-Only checkbox will be on that page.

I tried to copy .pst files that had been copied from my old computer to CD
Rom. After a couple minutes of copying, I get this message, "Cannot copy
[file name]: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

What does this mean? Or better, what do I do about it? Copying stopped at
with the error messge.

Sounds like your HD is developing a problem.

Are you *Opening* instead of importing, and are you *Opening* from your HDD
rather than a CD?

Thanks very much. I opened the file and copied the subfolders in my prsonal
folder. I am, however still perplexed why the .pst file becomes impossible to
open even when I am logged in as administrator. In any case, many thanks.
