.pst files and IMAP

I have a user who had POP3 setup on his laptop using .pst files and when he
launched Outlook it downloaded all his e-mails from the server onto his
machine locally. I would like to edit his settings to use IMAP and re-deploy
his e-mails so that they sit on the server so he can see them when he logs
back into his desktop. Can anyone assist me in doing this? Thank you!

As the ones in the folder are already saved to the drive it likely will NOT
sync to the IMAP folders when you simply swap it over and so those emails
would still JUST reside locally. However... Make the IMAP account at the
server level if not already done - usually just enable it at the client side
by changing it to IMAP is the trick but some older versions of H-Sphere
required that it be selected and I'm not sure what you're working with.
Anyhow, once you've done that, create a new folder - call it something
catchy like "All Your Old Mail" or even "Storage" or "Archived" will work.
Then on the client side copy the emails from the old inbox folder into the
Storage folder and it *should* sync for you. If it doesn't then cheat and
use an alternate client that does so. *cough* Outlook Express is one that
syncs without a problem and I'm pretty sure Outlook does too but just in
case you might want to check its outcome.

That should do it without a problem. If not I'll tear into an account and
see what happens or I'm sure someone will be along who has actually tried
that. I searched and didn't seem to find a defined path for doing so but the
above is what I'd do.
