pst file too big

Tried to open my Outlook today and it refused to open.
Went in and removed the personal file folder (pst) and it
worked fine. Trouble is that that pst file is too big (is
over 150 mbyte. I can reduce it but Outlook won't let me
open it to do that. Any ideas how I can open it?

Hi,

Actually speaking 150 MB is really not too big for the PST file. You can
probably try searching for the Inbox Repair Tool ( scanpst.exe ) and then
try repairing the PST file.

Sorry - meant to say 1.5 GIG - it is actually about 1.85
Gig and Outlook will not open with it in set up!

Then you will need to use the pstcrop tool to reduce the size as it has
reached its maximum.

You can find it on Microsoft Downloads here:

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Rich Flight asked:

Open Outlook with a new PST and then try to open the old PST with File>Open.
You might be able to read it. If so, copy some of the items out of it and
put them in the new one. When done, compact the old one. If this doesn't
work, you'll have to use one of the methods described in
