pst file size

I exported a large incoming mail folder (in Inbox folder) and deleted the
content. And I deleted the content of Deleted folder, thinking it would
smallen the size of Outlook.pst.

However, the size of Outlook.pst is the same as before. Why? Is there
anything I should be doing?

ps. As for the numbers, I see these.

1. C:/Documents and Settings/.../Outlook/outlook.pst : 815Mb.
2. Outlook Personal Folders/Properties/Folder size/Total size: 89Mb.

did you compact the pst? right click on the folder and choose properties,
advanced
