PST File in Outlook 2000

I found by reading this board:

PST file size limitations for Outlook 2002 is...

- 2GB max file size (1.82GB is more realistic)
- 65,000 items per folder
- 65,000 folders per folder

I am using Outlook 2000 on a Windows 2000 Pro OS. My IT department tells me
to run Outlook 2000 efficiently the psts should be no larger than 200 - 400
MB. Is there a performance reduction if the file sizes are larger nearing
the 1 GB or 1.82 GB limit? Is there a limit to how many psts you cna have
attached to Outlook 2000? Is there a performance reduction if many are
attached?

That's too conservative, in my opinion. I have found that OL 2000 performs
well with PSTs up to 1GB. Beyond about 1.25 GB I began to see performance
issues.
Is there a performance reduction if the file

I would hesitate to regularly use a PST nearing about 1.5 GB. I've seen
corruption nearing 1.7 GB.

Good question. It's one I can't answer.
Is there a performance reduction if many are attached?

Define "many".
