I have recently acquired a new laptop. I wanted to
incorporate my files from my old laptop's outlook to my
new laptop's outlook. i have saved some folders from my
old outlook as .pst and .dat files.

my question is how does one incorporate these .pst
and .dat files into my new outlook on a different laptop?
thx in advance for your help.

Do not import! You will lose custom views, custom fields, etc. Instead
configure Outlook to use your moved .pst file as its default information
store. As for the other files, you would need to copy them to the right
location on your new machine. See http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
for more information.

Sue, along the same lines, I was a beta tester for 2003. Without any
warning, my beta copy of Office 2003 expired today and would not allow me to
do anything other than uninstall the applications. Unfortunately, this means
my Outlook PST file is unusable in my previous Office XP applications. I
found the KB article on Office 2003 PST files being different from previous
versions, and that the files need to be converted in Outlook 2003. Well,
that’s great, but the option for Data File Management was grayed out! So now
I’ve got a major problem—getting my data, especially 3 very large contact
lists, out of the PST file. Is there any possible way to accomplish this?
