protecting a word template

Amanda

I designed a letterhead word template. A lot of people
will be using this template. I need to find out if there
is some way to "protect" the graphics when opened as a
document to type a letter. The graphics are in the header
and footer, but when this is opened as a document, they
can get access to the graphic to change it. I would
appreciate any help anyone can give me. I am using Word
2000.
Thank you

You can insert a section break at the very top of the document and then
protect Section 1 (which will be just the header) for forms, but this will
hamstring Word, disabling about half its features.

To say the last. You'll annoy the users who wouldn't have changed things
anyway, without seriously hampering those intent on malice. And you'll spend
a heap of time answering calls from users who want to know why their copy of
Word doesn't work any more. :(

Agreed. It's not something I'd recommend. By and large, sticking stuff in
the header protects it from inadvertent changes, and there is no effective
way to prevent intentional tampering.
