ProSavageDDR Display Adapter failure

After upgrading XP/Home to XP/Pro, my s3 onboard prosavage card no longer shows up as a display adapter in the device manager. If I run the latest driver update I get the following in the logfile.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Try This
Install your display drivers, but before you reboot,
install a new copy of directx Version 9b.
Now reboot your system.

Anton,
I have updated to the directx 9.0b drivers. The s3 driver install fails. From the logfile it looks like a instance not found error.
Everything looks ok in the registry

I have the exact same problem with the onboard video
(ProSavageDDR) on a ECS L7vmm2 motherboard. I don't know
when this happened, possibly has something to do with an
Nvidia video card that was installed & removed some time
ago? There are no Display adapters in the Device manager
(including in safe mode). When I go to Display properties
it shows "Default Monitor on" I have tried going through
the Video driver install log file, deleting each registry
entry shown, but some are not able to be deleted.
