Prohibit RIS to create computer accounts.

Halo All.

I have created a number of RIS images. The problem I have is that RIS
automatically creates a computer account in the domain (no matter
which image I select) . I have configured it to NOT do this with the
following switches in all SIF files, but the settings are ignored.
This is how my Identification section looks in all my SIF files for
all images...

[Identification]
CreateComputerAccountInDomain = No
JoinWorkGroup = localmachine

But these settings are ignored. I have gone as far as searching my
whole drive for sif files, and making the change in all of them, but
still no luck. Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue?

Would be greatly appreciated.

Vanyuan.

Try to change ImageType from Flat to WinPE in ristndrd.sif

[OSChooser]
ImageType=WinPE

This will not force the creation of a computer account in Active
Directory. This is new functionality in Windows Server 2003.

Hi there.

I take it you also set up Microsoft's BDD (Business Desktop
Deployment).
I am doing the same.

And yes, these are WINPE images on the RIS server. I have specified
the /minint switch, and it works fine. But as soon as I change
imagetype=WinPE the image doesnt show up at all on the RIS menu.

Anyone have any ideas? A document on technet states the following:

You will also want to change the ImageType=Flat line from Flat to
WinPE ( ImageType=WinPE). This will allow WinPE to show up on the
Tools menu in RIS, but will not force the creation of a computer
account in Active Directory®. This is new functionality in Windows
Server 2003.

But it doesnt work. As soon as I change this switch from Flat to
WinPE, RIS doesnt show the selection on the Menu.
