Progs in "All Users" Startup ignored?

When I start XP (Pro) not all of my Startup items load.

Those shortcuts in my "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
\Programs\Startup" don't load.

Moving them to my personal C:\Documents and Settings\Bubba\Start Menu
\Programs\Starup" folder solves the problem, but then I'd have to do the
same thing for everyone else. :(

I'm sure there is just some stupid setting I'm missing, but what?

Hi Bubba,

This one from David Candy:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to these locations one by one and change each of the shell folders path to the default values as given below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Common Startup = %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Common Startup = C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

-and-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
Startup = %USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
Startup = C:\Documents and Settings\Userprofile\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Hi Bubba ,

Thanks for your posting here.

Does the problem occur on all the users or just your current user?
Does the problem occur on all the shortcuts or just some certain ones?

I would like to suggest that you copy a notepad.exe file to the All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder. Will it be loaded when you logon?

You can also try a batch file just including a command of "ipconfig
C:\ip.txt". Then check if the ip.txt file is created when the user logon.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for the reply.
The problem occurs in every account. Shotcuts for "All Users" do not load
(even though they appear under "Startup" in the Start Menu), but shortcuts
in everyone's individual Startup folders load just fine. Very odd. This
applies to all shortcuts in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup" folder.

No. Same result. It was ignored. :(

The first reply to my post suggested changing some Reg keys ("Shell Folders"
and "User Shell Folders"). The first two keys he refers to turned out to
have
*fixed* paths to some file in my C:\Windows\System32\ directory (not a
virus,
I checked). I changed the fixed path as prescribed, to no avail. Same
result.
Any ideas?

I'm trying. :^/ Thanks.

Hi Bubba ,

How are things going?

If the problem still persists, please make sure that everyone has
Read&Execute permissions for the All Users group.

In addition, please run "Set >c:\Set.txt" command and copy the content of
set.txt file in your post.

Thank you,
