For uTorrent to work, you need to add an exception in Windows Firewall and
on your router.

I ended up installing Quicken 2005 to another drive. Might have been
permissions issues within the %programfiles% folder.

It would be easier to say what *doesn't* work with Vista, as most of it
does.

However, out of the things that you mention, uTorrent works, but uPnP didn't
forward the port in my router. I had to do it manually.

WinRAR shell integration works fine here. This not working for you makes me
think that you are actually running Vista 64-bit? No shell 32-bit
extensions will work with that.

Also, Acrobat Pro 7 didn't work at all. I really don;t know how you got it
to work as most people can't as far as I know. I am currently using the
free 30-day trial of Acrobat Pro 8 and I'll have to buy it soon.

I've found about 99% of my programs can be made to work under Vista..
the trick is if the program doesn't right clicking on the *.exe click on
"compadibility tab" and select XP SP2 - if you did an upgrade from XP to
Vista.. try uninstalling the application and reinstalling with the
install.exe with compadibility mode selected.. the 2nd thing I've been
able to do is set the program *.exe to "run as administrator" which means
the *.exe can write to files /directories and is basically completely
trusted.

There have been only a very small amount of apps that I haven't been able to
get running on Vista. I tried the Compatibility tab of course, but I don't
think I tried run as admin, forgetting that Vista does that differently now.
I turned UAC off, so would it still be valid in my situation?

With XP I ran as a power user-account, while using run-as for installing
stuff, once I had the system configured as I want.

As I have been mostly just messing around and installing stuff in Vista, I
have only one account, which I thought was an admin account by default.

I have "Acrobat professional 7" at least thats what it says on my dvd.
Just installed it like everyday installs :).. and runned it..
works like a charm..
I am surprised that most of the ppl have trouble with it..

thanks for the correction..I am hoping to get that more..
English is not my native language..so i will be happy to get corrections ..
( and you did it super smooth i must say :) :)

Got Vista 32-bit..And yes.. i installed it again and it works just fine

I agree that the important list would be those programs that don't run
on Vista.
An important addition to the don't run list is:
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 9.

Add one of my favorite programs to the list: DVD Profiler. I'm an avid DVD
collector this is a fantastic database type program for catalogiing your
collection. Its free (though there is a premium version for $20) aand has
butt load of features!
