Programs that run automatically at start up

Every time I start up XP, my Norton Anti-Virus goes into scan mode, severely
slowing down the computer. I can'tseem to stop it. How do I stop it from
doing this (there is nothing in the menus available in Norton to help)

Open Norton's, check the options to disable the autoscan on startup.
