Programs freezing / shutdown problems

I'm having a lot of trouble lately with programs freezing and not closing
down. They stay in "Not Responding" mode, and then the End Program message
comes up. The program doesn't shut down though.

This has happened in Add/Remove Programs and my Norton Firewall when I've
tried to configure it. It's also happened in the Windows Anti-Spyware Beta as
well. I'm thinking that it's the reason my computer won't shut down properly,
or won't allow another user to log on without it shutting down with a System
Manager error message.

Any idea what the problem is?

I've got the following installed:

Norton Antivirus / Norton Firewall
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Would that be enough to conflict and cause my problem?

Most times the computer will stop rebooting shortly after an "ending
program" message comes up for ccAPP.exe. I don't know if that's part of the
cause or just coincidental.

Hi. If you have more than one anti virus, spyware or anti hacker programs on
your system they may be in conflict with each other. if you have, try cutting
it down to one of each.
Remember that you may have some security programs included in windows, if
you have installed service pack 2.
good luck.

Because MS AntiSpyware is beta and Norton is known to cause all kinds of
problems, the combination may be to blame.

MarquisMark76,

The file ccAPP.exe is related to Norton antivirus. Try re-installing the
application on top of it or try the repair function. You can try the steps in
the clean boot I suggested earlier (uncheck the ccAPP.exe) alone and you wont
get the error.
The best option would be to contact symantec support and get things
straightened.

Best of luck,
